Ceiling Grid in Hayes 210 2025

Material:
Plywood
The Hayes 210 ceiling grid is a hand-built plywood framework designed to visually unify the space, soften the presence of exposed beams, and offer a functional overhead plane for future lighting, projection, or hanging elements. Its warm, natural material brings texture and comfort to the room while supporting long-term adaptability and user-driven spatial expression.

Final Composition

Conceptual planning to logistical execution

After finalizing the plan, I had to consider how each component would be manufactured, transported, and delivered to the second-floor site—evaluating whether to use stairs or elevators, and whether the dimensions of items like UniStrut or other parts would even fit through those constraints. This step required coordinating dimensions, breaking elements into manageable sections, and anticipating on-site assembly challenges to ensure a smooth installation.

Once the ceiling design was complete, I moved into fabrication—starting with full sheets of plywood, cutting them down in stages, and preparing each piece for assembly. This process required careful planning, precise measurements, and hours in the woodshop to ensure every part fit together cleanly during installation.

Without the generous help of Paul Tewwale and Jeffrey Haase, I wouldn't have been able to complete the work. Their support in handling materials and problem-solving made a critical difference in bringing the ceiling grid installation to life.
